One ship stopped sailing from Turku to Stockholm – Mariehamn now fears the worst: “I don’t think that decision is the only one”

Tallink Silja has withdrawn another vessel from the Turku-Stockholm route. The vessels ordered by Finnlines will soon take twice as many passengers, but they will not stop in Mariehamn.

– Things are changing fast. I don’t think that Tallink Silja’s decision is the only decision. There are difficult times ahead for a tourism industry that has a crown behind it.

Tallink Silja is reorganising its services for the winter season after another morning boat was stranded. The evening boat will leave Turku a couple of hours earlier, leaving more time for evening entertainment.

A hotel in Helsinki built windowless rooms in a parking garage underground – \”They are as good as other rooms\ assures the hotel manager hotellinjohtaja vakuuttaa

Staying in a windowless hotel room in the capital region currently costs around 200 euros per night.

On the surface, the hotel room looks ordinary: a wide bed, decorative pillows, a desk and beautifully falling, long curtains.

The specialness of the room is revealed behind the curtains – there is no window here.

The illusion of space is created with the help of a light wall, which is decorated with a Finnish forest landscape.

The attraction that cost 21 million euros did not interest people this summer – even the big Kouvola sign did not get boaters to the Kimola canal

The Kimola channel in Kouvola was quiet last summer. The low traffic volume is explained by expensive fuel and increased foreign tourism.

The allure of novelty on Kimola’s channel has dissipated.

This summer, there were fewer boaters on the canal on the border between Iiti and Kouvola than ever before. This year, between May and September, 1180 closures were made on the channel. Closures are made when boat traffic passes through the canal closure.

The number of closures fell by about a third compared to last summer. In 2021, there were 1,669 closures.

In addition to jet skis and regular motorboats, inland water cruisers operate in the canal.
