According to data compiled by the city, there were nearly 130 000 overnight stays in accommodation establishments between May and July. This is more than 3 000 more than a year ago.
Ryanair’s flights from Bergamo, Italy, brought many foreigners to Lappeenranta and to the Tourist Information Centre. Italians were particularly busy in the summer.
On the other hand, domestic tourism seemed to be slightly down compared to last year. Many Finns traveled abroad during the summer after the corona situation eased.
