Lahti is considering whether to buy more electric city bikes

Residents have asked for new Mankeli stations, but more bikes would be needed.

There are now around thirty Mankeli stations in Lahti.

The city of Lahti must decide whether it wants more city bikes, or Mankels, for the coming years. Residents have asked the city to set up new Mankeli stations outside the city centre, but more bikes are needed to make their wishes come true.

The electric city bikes have been purchased from a company that also implements the system and operates the service. The city has agreed with the company on the possibility of increasing the number of Mankeleis from 250 to 500.

The extension option would cost just over €1 million and would cover four cycling seasons. Ticket revenues from users would cover part of the costs.

The Public Transport Board will discuss the introduction of city bike service options on Tuesday.
