The largest art auction in history raised $1.5 billion – Microsoft millionaire Paul Allen’s collection was like a lesson in art history

Among the paintings and sculptures collected by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen were works by Paul Cézanne, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh.

Unlike many millionaires who invest in art, Allen had chosen the works in his collection himself. Paul G. Allen died in 2018.

A total of 60 works were auctioned at Christie’s in New York for $1.5 billion. At today’s exchange rate, the sum is almost the same in euros.

No single art auction has ever raised such a pot.

Record prices also for individual works

The price of five works reached over one hundred million dollars, which has never happened in a single auction.

My Fair Lady is a timeless classic, whose fresh interpretation is charming in the Joensuu City Theatre

The classical musical fills the stands at the Joensuu City Theatre. Three actors take turns in the role of Eliza Doolittle.

The story of Eliza Doolittle, who sells flowers on the streets, and from whom upper-class men decide to school the countess, appeals to the audience at the Joensuu City Theatre.

The classic musical My Fair Lady runs to almost full audiences, even though the story has been seen on the big screen already 70 years ago, and has been told countless times on the stages of Finnish theaters over the decades.

The Broadway musical is a big effort for the Joensuu City Theater. Three alternating actors are needed for the main role, and the entire large stage is harnessed for a grand musical, including orchestras and dancers.

\\- What if we have full stands. Let’s just let it go.

Fame music museum settled its debts and now delights with glass instruments – artist: \”This would not be possible with other materials\”

Kjell Engman looks through the glass work.
For Kjell Engman, glass is alive and full of possibilities, the best of materials.

The Swedish Kjell Engman’s glass art can be seen in the changing exhibition of the music museum Fame. Olli Ilmolahti, the director of the museum undergoing corporate restructuring, looks to the future with confidence.

The long-established Swedish glass artist followed on the spot when his latest body of work was hung in the Fame exhibition room of the music museum in Tripla, Pasila.

This time, Engman and his team have produced glass instruments. The objects are full of details, the light plays on their surfaces. The atmosphere is completed by a video piece projected on the wall and a soundscape, which was created by Fame’s working group.

When the exhibition was finished, Engman claimed the chair. Engman sat, watched and listened for more than two hours. Glass, sound, colors and lights created a unique world.

Later he did the same thing again.
