Green will start his position at the beginning of next year.
Selma Green has been the director of the Swedish art museum Konstmuseet i Norr and the museums of the city of Vaasa for a total of more than ten years.
In addition, he has edited several fine arts publications, lectured on art history and contemporary art, and worked as an amanuensis, exhibition secretary and cultural producer in fine arts organizations and art museums.
Selma Green says in the press release that she accepts the new task with enthusiasm, because the activities of the Tampere Art Museum and the Moomin Museum combine her long-standing passion for art history, collaboration with contemporary artists, and a lively connection with the art museum’s audiences and partners.
– During her career, Selma Green has developed several museum organizations from the perspectives of contents, structures and operating processes. In his work, Green has also brought to the fore the themes of inclusive museum operations, accessibility and diversity, says Ahonen in the press release.
The Tampere Art Museum is part of the culture service group of the city’s cultural services, and its operations include the Moomin Museum in addition to the art museum. The Tampere Art Museum takes care of the second largest art collection in Finland and as a regionally responsible museum it monitors the visual culture of Pirkanmaa and serves the operators of the region. In its exhibition activities, the museum strongly presents art history and contemporary art phenomena in its domestic and international exhibitions.
