In a survey of city residents, the people of Lahti were most worried about the condition of the streets and roads and traffic safety.

The research company admits that the effectiveness of the postal survey, which has been used by several cities for decades, has waned.

Lahti commissioned a survey in the late autumn of 2021, with the aim of finding out residents’ satisfaction with the services offered in the city area.

The survey was sent by letter to 2,100 people from Lahti between the ages of 18 and 79, randomly selected from the population register.

Answers were received only from about every fourth person selected for the study, the response rate was 26.9.

Half of the answers received came from pensioners, i.e. over 65.

You could answer the survey by returning the form by post or online at the url address provided in the letter.

The city of Lahti reminds us that a similar cross-sectional survey has been conducted for years in several cities, and comparable results have been obtained between residents.

Both the person ordering the survey and the creator consider the length of the survey to be one of the reasons for the sparseness of the answers. According to Miettinen and Almi, nowadays people only want to answer a few questions in surveys.

– In the future, the intention is to make more inquiries to the townspeople immediately in connection with the service event and not from such a brand perspective, where we ask what our service looks like in general, Alm continues.

According to FCG’s research manager, in the answers received, Lahti residents were the most satisfied with cultural services. The biggest concern was the maintenance of streets and roads and traffic safety.
