Pielisen Karelia will be marketed to tourists with a new theme in the future

Forest and lake landscape as a painting.
The Koli National Landscape in Lieksa is not the only thing that municipalities in the region believe can attract tourists to Pielisen Karelia. The picture shows Eero Järnefelt’s preserved “Landscape from Koli”.

In the future, tourists will be attracted to Pielisen Karelia by myths, after having long relied on the traditional national landscape of Koli.

Kolia and the rest of Pielisen Karelia are now being marketed to tourists with myths.

Mythical Finland is a fresh tourism brand that combines myth, nature and peace. It will be used in the entire Koli tourist area, including Juuya.

There is a desire to highlight sites other than the Koli National Landscape, such as the Ruunaa hiking area, Eva Ryynänen’s home studio in Vuonislahti and the villages on the western shore of Pielinen.

The region’s renewed marketing is targeted at both international and domestic travelers.
