Yyter’s legendary hotel closed its doors unexpectedly – still no reason given

The Yyteri recreation hotel closed its doors at the beginning of March. According to the hotel company, services are temporarily suspended. No further details have been given about the future of the hotel.

On a chilly May day, the atmosphere around the Yyteri recreation hotel in Pori is downright eerie.

The sea breeze blows coolly. A lone bus bends into view. Usually the area is always crowded with outdoor walkers, but the cold spring weather must have scared them indoors.

The hotel building was completed in 1974. It and the spa, which opened in 1990, are like a hibernation. The outdoor pool, however, is full of clear water.

A tag has been attached to the main doors of the recreational hotel, which states that all its services are on a break since the beginning of March and that the hotel company will announce the progress of the project later. The staff has been laid off and just over two months later, nothing has been heard about the reforms yet.

The city is aware of the situation

The city of Pori and the companies operating in the area have sought to bring Yyteri with their sandy beaches to a new splendor. More services have been obtained in the area, although for example, container restaurants have not been interested in last summer.

However, there are many different activities in the area, ranging from Padel to trampoline and adventure park.

Last year, Yyteri’s counter showed 256,000 visitors. For this reason too, the recreational hotel as the busiest season approaches has raised widespread questions.

Kilkku cannot judge how worried the situation should be.

– I have a conversation with a hotel company and they have kept the situation on the map. I’m not going to open one -on -one conversations, says Kilkku.

In many ways, the hotel and its area are an important destination for Yyteri and Pori City Tourism. In particular, the city’s accommodation capacity is not enough during the Suomi Arena and Pori Jazz. Another important thing is Yyter’s additional construction.

– There is no other option for construction than the hotel area near the beach. The hotel is and will remain, and there is also an opportunity for additional construction on the site, says Lauri Kilku.

The city of Pori is not financially involved in a hotel company or even in the current negotiations.

The fate of Nallikar’s Eden on many minds

There are several empty spa hotels in Finland.

One of the most well -known is the Oulu Nallikari Spa Hotel Eden, which was closed three years ago. Its future is not yet known to have the demolition of the buildings to come. The situation is probably the same in Yyteri in Pori.
