In Heinola, the implementation of the patient information system is stuck

The service machine did not work at the Heinola Social Security Center on Monday, but it was not because the Social Security Center moved to the account of the Päijät-Häme welfare area.

In the welfare area of \u200b\u200bPäijät-Häme, the biggest change can be seen in Heinola. The evening and weekend on-call ended, but the digital clinic took its place.

In Päijät-Hämee, the change to a welfare area is not as big as in many other regions in Finland, because since 2017, the Päijät-Hämee welfare municipality association has been responsible for the organization of social security services. The biggest change is the joining of Heinola with a population of just under 20,000.

In Heinola, the change has been visible on the first Monday of the year as an initial shock. The main reason is the new version of the patient information system.

According to Timonen, the old information has not been transferred to the new system and the staff has to look at the information from the old system. Learning a new system also takes time.

– No information is missing. However, we have to check information from patients about medication, for example. If there are recipe renewals or other issues, we will have to ask again about things that have already been asked before.

Chief medical officer Kirsi Timonen hopes that the people of Heinola will have the patience to wait for a while to get over the initial stiffness.

Evening and weekend emergency services and cataract surgeries will end

The biggest change in Heinola is that the weekend on-call and evening reception after 4 pm are no longer in operation. Akuutti24 in Lahti is now in charge of emergency services. However, Chief Medical Officer Kirsi Timonen reminds that Päijät-Sote’s digital clinic has been serving the people of Heinola since mid-December.

– From the Digiklinika, you can get help quickly for many small problems without having to go anywhere. I hope the people of Heinola will widely use the digital clinic.

In addition, cataract surgeries performed in Heinola will end. Coronary specialist medical treatment continues as before.

There are no new signs or directions at the Heinola social security center yet.
