At the Lahti City Hall polling station, people have been going to the polls at a steady pace and no big queues have formed.

Minna Hämäläinen from Lahti praised the clear arrangements at the polling station.

Lahti resident Minna Hämäläinen went to cast her vote at the City Hall polling station. She hopes the new decision-makers will improve social services, especially for children and young people.

Sirkku Hildén has been in politics for 20 years. The future plans of the outgoing chairman of the city council are still open.

Hildén has been a member of the Lahti City Council since 2005. Konkari points out that the ownership of Lahti Energia has been discussed for as long as he has been involved in politics – at least 20 years.

An asset with risks

After yesterday’s match, there were many police officers and an ambulance in the vicinity of the Isku Arena in Lahti.

A scuffle broke out in Lahti after the Pelicans and Jokerit match on Saturday evening. The police will provide more information today.

After a hockey match between Pelicans and Jokerit, a scuffle broke out outside Lahti’s Isku Arena on Saturday.

Pelicans took their second win in the SM-liiga qualifying series. Jokerit lost 2-0.

After the game, emotions ran high among the people outside the hall.

– There were at least 12 police patrols and a lot of law enforcement officers. There was also an ambulance and a fire truck arrived, says eyewitness to Yle.

The elections organised at the Lahti Family Centre are part of the children’s education in democracy. The aim is to teach about the possibilities of influencing through play and cartoon characters.

The Lahti Family Centre was buzzing today as children got to experience what it’s like to vote in a purpose-built polling station.

The children of The Teddy Bear Daycare were among the first to arrive and were still in the queue to consider their nominee. Pictures of the four nominated cartoon characters could be found in several places in the space that had been specially built as a polling station.

The idea behind the Päijät-Häme Welfare Region has been to support children’s education in democracy and emphasise the importance of empowerment through play and cartoon characters.

Schools and kindergartens were inspired to vote electronically. Everyone was welcome to the Family Center Friday vote.

Due to the cold weather, street cleaning will start in earnest on Saturday.

Street cleaning work in the centre of the Gulf of Lahti Sandstorm will not start until Saturday due to the cold weather.

Over the coming days, the sandstorm will remove the sand in the city centre. In addition, the carriageways, car parks, central reservations and light traffic lanes will be washed.

Work will continue as the weather warms up.

Jokerei’s Ville Vainikainen won the second qualification game in 90.50 at Helsinki Ice Hall.

The Joker’s long-held winning streak and 3-1 lead evaporated in the last three minutes of regulation time.

Pelicans held the puck 68% of the time and took the shot count 73-45. Vainikainen, who was the hero of the game, chewed on his stick for a long time and was only able to play at the end.

The 31-year-old KalPa-born player only played a good five minutes in the match.
