The regional government of Päijät-Häme decided on the matter unanimously on Tuesday morning. Although the share of outsourced services is increasing, the welfare area still has enough of its own production as required by law.

The central health and social services services for Hartola residents will be provided by Harju health from the beginning of next year. The regional government unanimously decided on Hartola as the provider of social security services on Tuesday.

The regional government postponed the decision from last week’s meeting so that staff representatives could be consulted.

The share of outsourced services and the three employees of the group’s oral health care will be transferred to Harju health.

Sote central services mean outpatient care and oral health care services, basic substance abuse and mental health services, doctor services in counseling, school and student health care, and health social work services.

The welfare area of \u200b\u200bPäijät-Häme aims for the residents of Hartola to have equal and high-quality central social security services with digital services.

At the moment, Hartola’s central health and social services are produced partly as the Päijät-Häme welfare municipality’s own operation and partly outsourced to Terveystalo. The current contract with Terveystalo is ending at the end of 2022.

Discussion event for municipal residents in November

The municipal residents have been satisfied with the current service. A discussion session on future social security services will be organized for the residents of Hartola on November 9.

Competition would have been a risk

– At this stage, tendering would have been a very uncertain way to proceed. Partly because of this, opinion turned in favor of Harju’s health.

There has been lively political discussion about the expansion of Harju’s health. According to Hämäläinen, the regional government discussed it even now. According to Sotelei, the welfare area must have sufficient own production.

– It has been estimated that when Heinola’s social security services move to the welfare area, the share of own production will still remain sufficient.

In Hämäläinen’s opinion, politicians or office holders have no desire to expand Harju’s health services to cover the entire province. Next, the regional government decides on the provider of social security services in Orimattila. Orimattila’s current contract expires in the spring, but the contract still has a one-year option left.
