The autumn at Hotel Astor in Vaasa has been excellent – the house has been full on average two or three times a week

The hotel manager believes that the prospects for the hotel are good also in the coming winter. Interest rate restrictions had a major impact on the hotel, which mainly accommodates foreign business travellers.

– I believe that this autumn will be a good one. The summer has been good, and the winter looks promising.

All 49 rooms at Hotel Astor have been sold out on average two to three times a week during the autumn.

– People can now travel, and there are no restrictions. Now people dare to move.

Petra Gästgivars Lundberg, Hotel Astor’s hotel manager, is pleased that hotel business is looking promising after two years of interest rates.

During Easter, the hotel accommodates foreign business travelers, whose share before the corona restrictions was about 70 percent of the guests. There has been room in the hotel during the fall holiday week.

– Autumn vacation is not our main season. There have been a lot of families, but this week has not been sold out.

In contrast to the time before the coronavirus, Gästgivars Lundberg has noticed that customers book their hotel rooms later than before. In addition, the hotel now accommodates more customers on weekends than before.

He sees the future of hotel business as bright.

– Looks good now. I’m a little afraid of the energy crisis, whether people will have money left over to travel. The booking situation looks good.

Gästgivars Lundberg thinks that the hotel’s occupancy rate was the lowest in Vaasa when the corona restrictions started. The hotel had to lay off its staff four times during the corona virus.
