The game event \”At the mercy of water\” takes high school students to a fictional world where a storm has wreaked havoc. High school students in Lahti are thinking about how to better prepare for extreme weather phenomena.
More than 650 high school second-year students will be encouraged in critical scientific thinking at a game event on Thursday in Lahti.
At the mercy of water, the event takes place at the Nieme University campus. In the game exercise, various crisis situations caused by the storm are solved in the workshops.
The events of the game take place in the fictional town of Poukama, which has been torn apart by a strong storm. The storm makes different organizations and parties think more broadly about climate change. How to prepare for extreme weather phenomena in the future? What has happened to the water?
The workshops work on solutions from the fields of nutrition science, chemical engineering, linguistics, aesthetics and management, among others. The workshops are led by experts from LUT University, University of Helsinki and LAB University of Applied Sciences, among others.
The goal is also to give students a glimpse of what university studies can be.
Yle will follow the game live from 12:45 p.m. You can watch the broadcast in the video of the main picture of the story.
