Lahti expects a lower dividend from its energy company

The Corporate and Facilities Committee expects Lahti Energia to generate EUR 1 million in revenue for the city in 2023. A couple of years ago, the amount was significantly higher.

Lahti Energia's Kymijärvi power plants — As major investments have been made, the amounts received by the City from Lahti Energia have decreased. The latest major investment is the Kymijärvi III power plant.

The City of Lahti is lowering its energy company’s dividend target for next year. The Corporate and Facilities Committee will propose to the City Council that Lahti Energia’s dividend target for next year should be just €1 million.

The income will be reduced to allow Lahti Energia to repay its loans after the large power plant investment.

This year, the dividend for the city is EUR 5 million. This is a big difference from previous years: in 2020, for example, Lahti Energia paid a dividend of EUR 15 million to the city.
