Pebbles will be returned to Sonnanjoki as spawning grounds for lake trout, and the shoreline will be thinned out as a living space for the fry.
In Jaala, Kouvola, the Sonnanjoki rapids are currently being renovated to improve the lake trout population.
Sonnanjoki is a stream with valuable natural values, which originates from Lake Sonnanjärvi.
The work has been completed this week in Myllykoski and now Seppälänkoski is in the process of renovation. Later, it is planned to renovate Jukakoski and Kantokoski.
The goal of the renovation works is to restore the rapid and provide more spawning grounds for lake trout.
The price of the renovation is slightly less than 30,000 euros. The water area is owned by the Jaala Palojärvi cooperative, which has received funding for the project from the ely center.
