The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry wants to intensify the fight against harmful alien species. It is now possible to apply for assistance to combat workers, and the application is open until May 19.

The goal is to activate cooperation between municipalities, non-governmental organizations and companies in the fight against harmful alien species. At the same time, we want to promote measures to prevent the spread of alien species.

Harmful alien species are, for example, rosy rose, columbine, mink, and Spanish rose.

Subsidy can be granted for the costs of pest control, which have been caused by this year’s control. The object to be controlled can be either a plant or an animal species.

The grant is applied for from the ely center in Kainuu, which grants subsidies throughout Finland.

A subsidy can be granted for the control of an alien species that is included in either the national or the EU alien species list.

The target of the talks must be a species that is primarily to be combated in the area. Priority is given to talks containing several areas, which means that the prevention measures should be regionally as comprehensive as possible.

Support for extensive defenses

Municipalities, but also associations, companies and other communities, can apply for a job grant.

The grants are especially intended for financing larger projects with the greatest possible impact. Grants are therefore not granted to individuals or individual operators, such as housing corporations.

The labor allowance can be granted in an amount corresponding to the realized labor costs. Self-financing is not required.

Aid to combat alien species will only be provided this year.
