Night frosts and lack of rain have now curbed the flood situation in Northern Ostrobothnia

In northern Ostrobothnia, river water levels are mainly falling south of Oulu. The Iijoki flood peak in Pudasjärvi is expected to be in mid-May.

The flood situation in North Ostrobothnia has remained quite minor during the past few days.

The flood peak of the rivers south of Oulu has already passed, and the flood of Kiiminkijoki and Sanginjoki has remained stable.

– Last week’s snowy weather restrained the flooding of the rivers south of Oulu. According to the weather forecast, the current week will be rainless and the night frosts will still restrain the flows in the rivers, so it looks pretty good.

According to the Finnish Environment Agency, the rivers can flood the lowest fields in some places.

The Iijoki flood peak in Pudasjärvi is expected to be around the middle of May. Its prognosis is still uncertain.
