The Veikkausliiga footballers tried relaxing to the accompaniment of a real orchestra: “I went to some medieval village in Hobittila”

For the first time, Kymi Sinfonietta organised a relaxation concert for FC KTP’s football teams.

Athletes dressed in blankets lie side by side under a blanket on yoga mats to the music of Antonio Vivaldi. Some of them have closed their eyes.

– I look forward to seeing what impact this will have on people.

A new experiment

The symphony orchestra chose slow-paced pieces of music, with a song or melody that is sure to be familiar to everyone. Virtanen himself focuses on relaxing before concerts.

– I invest in moving in nature and possibly doing meditation exercises.

Annemaija Ruuska-Pulkkinen, who directs relaxation, was delighted at the opportunity to try something new.

– This is unique. When I was contacted by Kymi Sinfonietta, my heart really skipped a beat.

He has not relaxed athletes before. He has no goals for the moment of relaxation.

– Everyone gets to face feelings in their own way. You are allowed to just be.

Music helps you concentrate

– In my mind, I visited a small medieval village in Hobittila.

Ramadingaye listens to classical music when he studies.

– I listen to a lot of Mozart, the kind of music that doesn’t have words. This way you can get into a good flow state and be able to concentrate better. At least it has worked for me, because I have had difficulty concentrating my whole life.

According to Ramadingaye, top athletes are not specifically taught how to relax, but he believes that everyone has their own way of relaxing.

Classical music helps FC KTP captain David Ramadingaye to focus on his studies.

David Ramadingaye thinks that a relaxation concert would work well after the game, when you need to relax and get rid of muscle tension.

– Or if you are busy with work or everyday life is otherwise stressful, and you can’t get your thoughts away from difficult things or stress-producing things, then here you can get your thoughts elsewhere.

Ramadingaye can’t say yet if relaxation is the team’s secret weapon.

– It will be clear in this week’s games.
