Finnair is ending flights to Tampere and Turku

Finnair's flight will be replaced by buses leaving for Tampere and Turku from Helsinki-Vantaa.
In the future, there will be no more blue-and-white flights from Tampere. Finnair replaces its Helsinki flights with bus transportation.

The decision is influenced by the low utilization rate: the planes fly short distances with mostly empty seats. Most of the customers in the Tampere region travel to Helsinki-Vantaa by other means than by plane.

Finnair is ending flights between Tampere and Helsinki. After the eighth of May, Finnair offers air passengers four bus routes from early morning to late evening. Rides go from Tampere bus station to Helsinki-Vantaa airport at 04:05 at the earliest, and the latest return ride to Tampere at 00:10.

The change from flights to bus routes also applies to Finnair’s Turku flights.

The reason behind the decision is the low utilization rate. The planes fly short distances with mostly empty seats.

Most of the customers who come to Finnair’s flights from the Tampere region come to the flights departing from Helsinki by other means than by air. According to the company, already in 2019, when there were several flights a day, as many as 70 percent of Finnair Plus members from Tampere only started their flight from Helsinki-Vantaa.
