The city of Lahti is cleaning the streets with sandblasting sand, but the night frosts are stopping the work

The water still freezes on the streets and makes sand removal difficult. The city is trying to curb dusting with formate.

The removal of sandblasting proceeds slowly due to night frosts. The contractors of the city of Lahti have started cleaning the streets of sand, but in many places ice is still forming on the streets, and washing is therefore not possible everywhere. Cleaning the streets is difficult, especially on avenues where there are still large banks of snow at the edges.

Leppäaho states that sand has had to be used in abundance compared to other winters.

The sandblasting sands in the street areas of the core center will be removed during the separate Operation Hiekkamyrski. The operation schedule is still open.

Especially in the downtown area, there are sidewalk sections whose winter maintenance is the responsibility of building societies and their property managers. The city reminds us not to remove sand by dry brushing or leaf blowers.
