Lahti prepares to build a pedestrian bridge from Vesijärvenkatu to the City Hospital
Under the proposal, the bridge will be built on condition that the welfare area does not move away from the former city hospital.
The City of Lahti is preparing to build a pedestrian bridge from Vesijärvenkatu to the former city hospital, the Lahti Health and Social Services Centre.
The Wellbeing District has hoped that pedestrians and cyclists would have easier access to the health centre. The bridge would cross the pedestrian walkway below Lake Water Street and end at the health centre.
The city is ready to start designing the bridge this year and construction in 2026 or 2027. On Wednesday 23 April, the City Environment Committee will decide on the design and construction of the pedestrian bridge.
The welfare area has been weighed into the transfer of a social care center elsewhere, so according to the proposal, the city will only start building a bridge if the social care center continues on the premises.
