The purchase of new projectors will also reduce the theatre’s energy costs.

Vaasa’s BioRex cinema received a big grant from the Finnish Film Foundation to upgrade its projection technology.

The grant came to €30 000.

This year, the theatre will replace the digital projectors in two of its auditoriums. These are expensive investments, one can cost up to €100 000.

Renewing the projectors significantly lowers the theater’s energy costs. The old projectors still had lamps, but the new ones use a laser light source.

This year, the Finnish Film Foundation supported the renovation of two cinemas in Ostrobothnia.

The largest support pot of 30,000 euros goes to BioRex in Vaasa. In addition, Kokkola’s BioRex theater received a grant of 26,000 euros for, among other things, the renovation of hall 2.

The Finnish Film Foundation granted more than 330,000 euros for equipment purchases and renovations to seventeen theaters throughout the country.

The foundation supports and promotes domestic film production, distribution and screening of films.

The foundation gets its money from betting profits.
