This year, Yle Häme’s women’s day rose bouquets went to Salpaus Training Center janitor Nina Soramäki from Lahti and family home Pääskynpesä entrepreneur Tiina Saarinen from Hausjärvi.
The rose bouquets were distributed on Wednesday morning in a live radio broadcast, and the awardees did not know about it in advance.
Nina Soramäkä is described as Salpausselkä’s \”mother figure\ and she has worked at the school as a caretaker and janitor for almost 30 years.
– Nina or \”Ninttu\” has been present in the everyday lives of many young students. For many, he has been a safe adult to talk to when life kicks you in the head or even when life is the best ever, the reasons for the rose award read.
– Mother is a warm and caring person. He uses his kindness well.
A warm caregiver
In Kanta-Hämee, the rose was given to Tiina Saarinen, who runs the family home Pääskynpesä in Hausjärvi Hikiä with her husband.
In addition to Saarinen and this man, six elderly people live in the family home, with whom Pääskynpesä goes along. The daughter of the home’s former resident suggested Tiina Saari to be the recipient of the Women’s Day roses.
– Tiina takes care of the elderly with a warm, humane and humorous touch. The elderly are really family members of Tiina and her husband Janne, the justification reads.
Saarinen is moved when Yle’s reporter tells him that they want to reward him with roses on Women’s Day. Saarinen says that running Päskynpesä is a holistic way of life.
Community living is not suitable for all elderly people, but it requires certain skills.
– A dignified old age is different for everyone.
Roses distributed since 2006
There were dozens of proposals for women’s day roses, two of which were awarded today, Wednesday.
