The municipality of Pello has tendered the operation of the Nivanpää campsite. The municipality wants a high-quality operator who would strengthen Pello’s brand as the fishing capital of Finland.
– The applications look encouraging. It had great potential and good offers. Yes, I believe that they will find an entrepreneur in Nivanpää.
According to Ylitalo, the municipality wants a long-term operator who dares to invest in the area. Currently, the buildings and infrastructure of the campsite need renovation.
In particular, proper maintenance buildings and a reception are needed at the campsite, because caravan and motorhome tourism is growing all the time, Ylitalo says.
– We have an idea that we could build portable cabins there. They would serve fishermen on the riverside in the summer and would be taken to Ritavalkea for the winter, where they would serve winter tourists. Innovative ideas are made at Pello, so this is one of them.
Ylitalo believes that the current service equipment will still be in use next summer if only for scheduling reasons. The municipality has also prepared for the fact that it will manage the operation of the campsite itself next summer, if there is not time to get a new entrepreneur there by the summer.
– Above all, it is important that the new actor commits to developing the area and does what he promises. That’s what this is all about, says Ylitalo.
