Lahti Lauantainäyttamö is the amateur theater of the year

Lahti Lauantainäyttämö’s play Päällytakki, chosen as amateur theater of the year, won the main prize of Jyväskylä Amateur Theater Summer.

Under the leadership of director Tapani Kalliomäki, the people of Lahti have made performances characterized as genius.

The Finnish Amateur Theater Association has chosen Lahti’s Lauantainäyttämö as the amateur theater of 2023.

In the selection criteria, the winner was found to be an ambitious and high-quality amateur theater.

Its performances were described as distinctive and masterful. The precise choreography was also praised.

16 amateur theaters applied for the award and the selection was made on the basis of applications and a first-time advisory social media vote.

In addition to Lahti Lauantainäyttämö, Lemin Nuorisoseura, Eräs Teatteri from Hämeenlinna and The Finn-Brit Players from Helsinki made their way to the social vote.

In the end, the jury was very unanimous about the winner, who was handed a thousand euros as recognition.

The Saturday scene is in good shape

The interpretation of the latter, under the name Päällystakki, won the main prize of Jyväskylä Amateur Theater Summer together with Tanssiteatteri Tilleri Taller in August 2022.
