Actor Bruce Willis suffers from dementia

American action star Bruce Willis, 67, has been diagnosed with dementia, his family said.
Willis suffers from frontotemporal dementia.

The actor’s family hopes that the media will in future focus on dementia and its treatment, rather than on the progression of Willis’ illness.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the family says they are relieved that Willis has finally been diagnosed.

Willis ended his career in the spring of last year. At the time, it was reported that the actor suffers from a brain disorder called aphasia, which makes it difficult to produce and understand speech.

– Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontal lobe dementia, the family said in a statement.

The family hopes that in the future the media will focus on dementia and its treatment and not on the progression of Willis’ disease.

He has been awarded two Emmy awards and one Golden Globe award.

Willis received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
