Artificial grass pitches are not heated at low temperatures and in many properties the indoor temperature has been reduced by a couple of degrees.
The City of Lahti is pleased with the energy saving programme it has launched.
Among other things, ventilation has been reduced and the indoor temperature has been lowered by a few degrees where possible.
Energy saving measures have been most visible to citizens in reduced outdoor lighting and sports facilities.
For example, artificial grass fields have not been heated this winter if it has been below five degrees below zero.
Lahti City Council approved the energy saving program in October.
– According to the decision, the cost-saving measures will be continued at least until the end of the current year, and it may be that many practices that have been found to be good will remain permanent, says Arola.
According to him, the savings presented in euros are a good incentive to look even more closely at the energy efficiency of the properties included in future investment decisions
– There have been no complaints from the townspeople about austerity measures. Rather, they have asked if nothing can be done, laughs Arola.
