The celebrities refuse to cooperate and complaints about a column published in The Sun go to trial. Fans are fiercely defending Clarkson.
The column has been the subject of a record number of complaints to the UK’s Public Speaking Council, Ipso. Some 25,000 complaints have been taken to the council, reports the BBC.
The latest twist in the Clarkson scandal involves his hosting of Britain’s *Want to be a Millionaire*? The contest was to be filmed as an episode with celebrities competing. According to media reports, three female celebrity contestants refused to cooperate with Clarkson and the programme had to be scrapped. The *Daily Mail* is one of the sources. Representatives of ITV, the show’s producer, have not commented.
Fans have collected a petition for Clarkson
Jeremy Clarkson has been hosting the *Want to be a millionaire*? quiz show since 2018. He rose to prominence on the BBC’s *Top Gear* motoring series, which he left in 2015. Clarkson has also appeared on Amazon Prime’s *Grand Tour* and the documentary series *Clarkson’s Farm* under his own name.
Clarkson still has a large and male fan base. The fans have now put together an address where more than 60,000 signatories demand that Clarkson be allowed to remain in his position as the host of the millionaire quiz.
The Clarkson case has raised the cancel debate
It is believed that ITV wants to get rid of the controversial presenter Konkar. The company has announced that after spring 2023, it will no longer have obligations and contracts with Clarkson.
Amazon Prime has already announced that it no longer wants Clarkson in its productions. The man’s fans accuse Amazon of the cancellation, i.e. actions aimed at isolating a person seeking false opinions and making him lose his job. Many have threatened to stop subscribing to Amazon Prime.
Jeremy Clarkson and *The Sun* have apologized for their writing several times. Prince Harry criticizes the court for the lack of support in the Clarkson scandal in his book Deputy.
