The Lahti sub-regional area is an even more popular business environment than before, according to an extensive survey conducted by EK.

The EK ranking of municipalities ranked 25 sub-regional municipalities from the point of view of businesses.

For the first time, the Lahti sub-regional municipality has been ranked in the top ten in the ranking of 25 sub-regional municipalities in Finland by the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK).

The trend has continued to improve: in 2019, Lahti was ranked 13th, two years later it was 11th and now it is already eighth, just behind Helsinki (7th).

The EK ranking of municipalities measures companies’ assessments of sub-regional authorities from several perspectives. These assessments cover location, municipal economy, business policy and business conditions.

In the case of Lahti, it is significant that it is now at least average or better in all areas from the point of view of companies.

Companies’ views on the activities of municipal decision-makers are also more positive than before.

The Confederation of Business and Industry sums up the results of a recent business survey as Lahti is a region that is making strong progress.

– In addition to breaking through the university’s and environmental profile in Lahti, it is important that we are able to cooperate even better among the various players in the region. It can now be seen in these results as well, says Timonen.

The rankings in the top three did not change. Seinäjoki was once again firmly in pole position, followed by Rauma and Salo.

EK’s survey included nearly 2,200 companies with a total of over 165,000 employees.
