Kaija Koo doesn’t want to dwell on her old divorce: \”Hello, who cares! People think that the battery can still talk about it\”

Kaija Koo is sitting on a chair in the middle of the water on the shore of Lake Tuusulanjärvi. Kaija Koo is wearing a yellow dress and a light fur coat.
Kaija Koo, who has a self-critical approach to what she does, says that she watched the documentary smoothly and with satisfaction from start to finish.

Kaija Koo hopes that the media would be interested in her work as an artist. The Tinkenkäkuningatar documentary starring the singer has already been watched almost 60,000 times at Yle Areena.

Kaija Koo and Pia Asikainen, who visited Radio Suomen Päivä, state that their chemistry met immediately at the first meeting, which can be seen and heard in the final result.

– I thought that there is a brave person \\director Pia Asikainen\\ who understands dark humor, now let’s go! In my opinion, snobbery is bullshit, says Kaija Koo in a radio interview.

According to the singer, the feeling can be conveyed by throwing oneself.

– Works perfectly, rapa splashes. It can go wrong, but it can go damn well. There is no other option.

The customer characterizes Kaija Koota as an inspiring multi-talent.

– He is terribly playful and a damn funny person. I see him as a great artist, genius, crazy, whatever, Asikainen laughs.

Who cares about an old divorce?

Impiö’s influence on Kaija Koo’s music is also highlighted in *Tinakenkäkuningattare*. In addition to the professional relationship, divorce is discussed in the 80-minute documentary for about one minute.

When Impiö is mentioned in an interview with Radio Suomen Päivä, Asikainen wants to make a statement. He says that he was shocked that in December Kaija Koo and Impiö’s old divorce came to the fore once again.

– It is unbearable that artists are made to go through the same things over and over again. Could it be that the interpersonal side of female artists is brought out more? The customer asks.

Kaija Koo points out that a huge amount of work has been done for the documentary, and it is not about divorce but about her work as an artist.

– I get a terrible feeling that Kaija Koo is talking about her divorce in the headlines. Which was in 2006, hello, who cares? People think that the battery can still talk about it. I’m not talking about that, get over it now!

Kaija Koo, like Asikainen, thinks that gender may play a role in the background of the phenomenon.

– As if the only thing I’ve done is that I’ve divorced. I would hope that work would be raised, and respect for that work, says Kaija Koo.

In Raider, Pommac

Asikainen and Kaija Koo and their work groups came up with ideas for the content of the documentary along the way. In the first scene to be seen, the drone rises along the surface of the rock and finds Kaija Koo dressed in a cape at the top, who has spread his arms like the statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro, as the two describe themselves.

There are graffiti on the rocks, which Asikainen admits he painted himself for the scene.

In the scene, Kaija Koo tells that as a child she used to climb a rock with her grandmother. Champagne glasses and Pommac had been taken. According to him, there is something majestic about climbing high and seeing where you came from and where you are going.

– Today, I have Pommac in my raider, Kaija Koo reveals in the documentary.

An impressive scene was given a place at the beginning of the documentary. After that, the viewer is taken with Kaija Koo to the Tammerfest 2021 concert stage.

– Just as every song has to be in the right place at a concert, in the same way the order has to be right in a film, says Kaija Koo.

Self-criticism marks the artist

In the documentary, Kaija Koo says that everyone thinks they know her, but she doesn’t even know herself.

– Getting to know yourself is a lifelong process. While making the documentary, I was amazed at how many different sides of me there are. It was great to travel to myself, but there are still mysteries left, Kaija Koo tells Radio Suomen Päivä.

Self-criticism is Kaija Koo’s character traits. For example, listening to his own songs is difficult for him.

Over the course of a long career, many hits have been created, but often the artist also finds something to improve on his old productions. In a radio interview, he reveals that he planned a record with old songs re-produced, with the mistakes corrected.

The documentary, on the other hand, seems to the artist to be successful in all aspects, at least at the moment.

– I watched this documentary smoothly. I was satisfied, the artist rejoices.
