The fireworks could be lackluster if the music was forgotten – Lahti ponders feedback and thinks about how to celebrate the next New Year

Many people from Lahti wanted to see the New Year’s fireworks. Foggy weather affected how far the show could be seen.

According to the city of Lahti, the New Year’s light show, which was tried for the first time, received a mostly positive reception.

On New Year’s Eve, the city and Lahti Aqua offered the townspeople a show centered on the Mustankallio water tower.

However, according to him, some of those who followed the performance had not understood that the work was not meant to be just looked at. The music composed for the fireworks could be listened to on the radio or online, and without it the experience could be lacking.

The city is collecting feedback and thinking about how to celebrate the New Year next time. Karhos reminds that there is also a choice of light shows that replace fireworks.

– Technology is developing all the time, and there are many options, he states.

Cultural affairs manager Matti Karhos himself has nothing against traditional fireworks.

– That is also a great art form.

In terms of environmental effects, the laser light show did not differ greatly from ordinary fireworks.
