The use of fireworks is only allowed on New Year’s Eve for eight hours.
Fireworks sales points open today and sales will continue until New Year’s Eve.
Starting today, the Päijät-Häme rescue service will check the safety of all 38 sales points in the province.
The supervision checks, for example, the adequacy of instructions, extinguishing equipment and safe storage. If any problems are detected, the point of sale can be closed.
Fireworks are advised to be purchased only after other purchases have been made, as it is not intended to move around with explosives in the store premises.
The rescue service reminds that the use of fireworks is only allowed on New Year’s Eve between 18:00 and 02:00.
In the center of Lahti, fireworks are prohibited inside the area bounded by Mannerheiminkatu, Lahdenkatu, Hollolankatu and Saimaankatu.
Based on the law, the police have the right to issue a fine for violating the fireworks ban.
