Andritz oy, a manufacturer of equipment and systems for the pulp and paper industry, is in the process of change negotiations.

The negotiations concern 1 020 employees in the company’s pulp business in all Finnish sites. They may lead to the dismissal of a total of 170 employees.

All types of jobs are covered by the negotiations.

In addition to the redundancies, any layoffs may be subject to all employees involved in the negotiations.

Andritz Oy has activities in Kotka, Vantaa, Tampere, Lappeenranta, Helsinki, Lahti, Varkaus and Savonlinna. There are about 1,200 employees.

In Kotka, for example, the company carries out equipment and plant design work, among other things. It is not yet known how any reductions will be against locations.

Aiming to secure business in Finland

The reason for the change negotiations is the uncertainty of the global economy.

– In the pulp and paper industries, the investment environment is still declining. For large pulp mill projects, it has been it for a long time. We are aiming to secure the company’s competitiveness and then ensure the long -term development of the business here in Finland, says Kari Tuominen, CEO of Andritz Oy.

The change negotiations launched in February will be completed at the earliest in April.

In total, Andritz employs about 1,600 people in Finland. In addition to Andritz Oy, this includes Andritz Works Workshops in Varkaus and Savonlinna. These are outside the change negotiations.
