Edelweiss Mineral Exploration, registered in Norway, has reserved an area on the border between Kangasala and Tampere for prospecting for gold and other minerals.

On 14 January, the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency Tukes approved the company’s reservation notification under the Mining Act. The appeal period for the decision expired yesterday, Thursday.

Three nature reserves lie within and in the vicinity of the almost 900 hectares of the reserve.

The company is owned by the Holding Company registered to Gibraltar, which has sold reservations from all over Finland through acquisitions. This is how it worked last in January.

The reservation gives the company a privilege to apply for an exploration permit in the area. Light studies are allowed during the booking period, but a separate permit is required for actual exploration.

According to the booking announcement, Edelweiss Mineral Exploration intends to study the area, for example, with geological mapping and sampling.

According to previous studies, the company assumes that there is gold, silver, copper, zinc, phosphorus, wolframia and antimon in the area.

The reservation is valid for a year, but the company plans to apply for an exploration permit for the area this summer.

In recent reservations for other Ropa Investments, the schedule has also been similar, but no ore exploration permits have been applied for.

There have been several reservations in the area

According to Tukes, a significant part of the bookings never lead to exploration. An even smaller part is progressing to mining.

According to the Tukes database, several reservations have been made in the Ahvenlampi and Kangasala border in the Tampere and Kangasala border. None of them have led to exploration.

The last one was in 2018 when Sotkamo Silver wanted to find gold and volphram in the region.

The Ahvenlampi environment has also been reserved and studied in 2012 and Oy Fennoscandia Investment Group in 2014.
