National Parks have retained their popularity: Koli National Landscape attracted about 250,000 visitors last year

Metsähallitus says that about 3.6 million visits were made to national parks last year, which is the same as in the previous year.

The most popular was the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park with about 600,000 visitors. Urho Kekkonen National Park (about 436,000) was second and Nuuksio (312,000) was the third most popular.

Koli National Park in Lieksa was the country’s fourth most popular with its about 250,000 visitors.

18,600 hikers visited Patvinsuo National Park last year and 17,300 hikers in Petkeljärvi. The number of visitors to both parks increased from the previous year.

National parks are large nature reserves whose important task is to safeguard biodiversity and to give people the opportunity to enjoy and relax and learn from nature.
