Ryanair fed up with drunks – wants a two-drink limit at airports
A drunk passenger forced a Ryanair plane to land in Portugal instead of Lanzarote.
Low-cost airline Ryanair has had enough of drunk passengers. It is proposing a two-drink limit at airports, reports CNN.
The company is proposing to the European Union that airport restaurants should operate like duty-free shops, selling alcohol only against a boarding pass.
Ryanair believes that restricting drinking would make air passengers behave better and safer.
The Irish Ryanair is currently going to court over an incident where the behavior of a drunken passenger forced the plane to land in Porto, Portugal last April. The company demands compensation of 15,000 euros from the passenger.
The plane was on its way from Ireland to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. 160 passengers had to stay overnight in Porto before continuing their journey.
The violent behavior of passengers on airplanes has increased in recent years, says the international umbrella organization of airlines, IATA.
