Metsäradio was established after the Second World War. It will be replaced by the new Metsä-Suomi programme, while Radio Finland is also renewing its other programming.

– It’s the loggerhead radio that started after the war and has changed in many ways along the way. Now we thought it was time to (move) towards something new,” Alijoki tells STT.

Metsäradio was established after the Second World War. At this stage, the broadcasts included playing songs, interviewing foresters and answering listeners’ questions.

The new Metsä-Suomie covers the forest theme more extensively than Metsäradio has done in recent years. In recent years, Metsäradio has focused on topics such as nature and camping. These are also included in Metsä-Suomi, but economic aspects are also highlighted.

– In which direction the forest sector is going and what kind of new innovations there might be, Alijoki describes the perspectives to be discussed.

Intermissions are added to the program for Yle Areena, which makes the program suitable for listening on other than a certain Tuesday evening.
