There are far fewer invitations to the castle party than before – a reception for war veterans before Independence Day

The chairman of the War Veterans’ Association thinks the arrangement is good.

The number of guests at the reception is about a third smaller than in previous years. About 1,300 people from all over Finland are invited to the party. A significant part of the guests are first-timers, there are fewer people who are traditionally invited for their position this year.

Among the recipients of the invitation are healthcare professionals and people who take care of overall safety. There are also volunteers and people working on future success factors.

The guests invited to the Independence Day reception in 2021 are among those invited. The party in question was celebrated without guests due to the corona pandemic.

This year, the presidential couple will not invite war veterans to the Castle on Independence Day, they will have their own reception the week before Independence Day.

– That sounds really good. We greatly appreciate the fact that the President of the Republic invites veterans to Linna’s celebration, and to celebrate Finland’s independence, which veterans played a big role in achieving.

There are still more than 3,000 veterans in Finland, the average age is 97 years. Most men born between 1923 and 1925 were sent to the war.
