Presentation of the working group: The criteria for Heinola’s family care support are getting stricter

The family care support decision is made based on the service need. The contract guarantees care allowance, days off, pension and accident insurance and the necessary social services.

Until now, Heinola has had broader criteria for family care than Päijät-Sote. In the new welfare area, the criteria must be unified, because the residents of the area must be treated equally.

The criteria for granting family care are getting stricter in Heinola. The regional government of Päijät-Häme decides at the end of November on unifying the criteria for family care in the entire welfare region. In Heinola, it is easier to get into the scope of family care support than in the Päijät-Sote area.

During the fall, the working group has considered how to unify the criteria for family care when the welfare area begins its operations at the turn of the year.

– Services for the elderly did not receive such additional funding that it would have been possible to grant family care support in accordance with the awarding criteria that existed in Heinola. We have a very strict budget framework for next year and that unfortunately did not make this possible, says Soini.

Unifying the criteria will mean that family care support will not be granted in the future to those whose commitment to family care is less or the person being cared for is in better shape.

According to Corinne Soin, the changes are made based on customer-specific service needs.
