The donation made by a Finnish private person is over one million euros.
The Ateneum Art Museum has received a significant testamentary donation from a private individual.
In accordance with the wish of the donor, the amount will be used for the exhibition and museum activities of the Ateneum Art Museum. The donation of one million euros makes it possible, among other things, to organize more free days than before.
– It is more common for works of art to be bequeathed to the Ateneum, which are hoped to be added to the museum’s collections. Donating money, especially such a large amount, is extraordinary.
With the help of a testamentary donation, the museum is also able to hire new, temporary employees, continue various projects and diversify the exhibition offering.
The Ateneum has been closed to the public for ventilation renovations since March 2022. The museum will reopen in early 2023.
