In chronological order, the Moomin works follow the story of Tove Jansson’s The Magic Winter’s Tale.
In Tampere, photographic images have been projected onto buildings for several years. This has been highly praised, and light art in the city centre has been a popular attraction.
This year, Tampere will see Moomin-themed light works. This suits the city well, as Tampere is also home to the Moomin Museum.
The Moomins and the Magic of Winter light gallery, based on original illustrations by Tove Jansson, will be on show in the city centre from 28 October. Fourteen illustrations and one animation based on the novel The Winter Wonderland will be displayed as light works on the walls of buildings between Tampere Central Market and Hämeenpuisto.
In the story Moomin meets winter for the first time and learns to cope with the new situation. The exhibition is produced by the Tampere Art Museum, and it celebrates the fifth anniversary of the Moomin Museum located in Tampere-talo.
Spot Little My and Tuu-tikki
In Tampere, the Moomin works adapt the story of Magical Winter in chronological order.
In Moomin Valley, the Moomins usually sleep in the winter. Moomin has woken up alone in the quiet Moomin House. In the first illustration, he tries in vain to wake up Moomin, who is in a sound sleep.
He goes outside and sees snow for the first time in his life. Little Myy is coming down the hill with a tray and Tuu-tikki, who is sitting in the light of a snow lantern philosophizing and looking at the northern lights.
Moomin also tries things like skiing, makes a bonfire and enjoys spring and the awakening of others.
The Moomin Museum organizes free, guided walking tours for the whole family to the exhibition.
