Hämeenmaa’s CEO disappointed by overpass decision: ‘If you walk in mud and rain, it’s not the same as walking dry’

No pedestrian bridge will be built across Aleksanterinkatu, which would have connected the hotel properties on different sides of the street.

The overpass wanted by the Hämeenmaa cooperative will not be built in the centre of Lahti on Aleksanterinkatu.

Hilden hopes that another street-level solution for crossing the road will now be found.

– Could crossing the street be made easier with crosswalks or other solutions, Hilden wonders.

Hämeenmaa is not enthusiastic about the crosswalk

He does not consider the street level and crosswalk solutions offered as alternatives to be meaningful.

– If you walk in slush and slush, it’s not the same as walking with dry feet, says Vormisto.

Hämeenmaa is now investigating what opportunities there are to develop hotel operations around Seurahuone, for example. The current hotel rooms are to be renewed with a renovation of just under a million euros.
