The best television programmes of the year are awarded with Venla statues.

The Golden Venla Award, which is extended to television programmes, is changing. There will no longer be a male and female actor of the year award. From now on, the awards for Lead Actor and Supporting Actor of the Year will be presented. The decision is based on a societal change.

Filmiaura, which awards the Jussi prizes for domestic films, made a similar decision earlier this spring.

There will also be changes to the Golden Venla competition categories.

Among other things, news, current affairs and affairs programs will be divided into two categories in the future: news and current affairs programs and affairs programs and documentary series. The previous category sports and events are also divided into their own categories.

– Several events, such as galas and concert recordings, are today big and visible TV productions, states Antti Väisänen.

The Television Academy also wants to highlight presenters more by establishing a new award category for them.

This year’s best television programs will be awarded at a gala in January 2023.
