It is said that the orchestra received a rare good and warm reception in Mikkeli last summer.
Last summer, Musiikkijuhlat asked Philharmonia’s chief conductor Santtu-Matias Rouval to be the festival’s artistic director, but Laasanen now says that Rouval refused the job.
– He has so many responsibilities in the world leading several orchestras that he did not see it possible to accept the task.
Program planning and the duties of artistic director are currently in the work calendar of festival director Teemu Laasanen.
Next summer’s music festival program will be announced in stages, and the first concert tickets will go on sale in November–December.
