Jolie has told about the events in Los Angeles in a trial related to the ex-couple’s dispute over a French winery.
At the center of Jolie and Pitt’s dispute has been the former couple’s jointly owned French winery Château Miraval, which they bought for $28 million in 2014.
Last year, Jolie sold her share of the estate to the international wine company Tenute del Mondo. According to Pitt, Jolie’s actions have been illegal and the ex-couple had a joint agreement that neither of them could sell their share without the other party’s consent. Accordingly, Pitt sued Jolie last February.
According to Jolie, Pitt would have made the sale of Jolie’s share of the winery conditional on a non-disclosure agreement, which would have prevented Jolie from telling about Pitt’s violent behavior.
Pitt’s lawyers have not yet responded to the abuse allegations. The recent charges have been reported by, among others, Reuters.
Jolie and Pitt were characterized as Hollywood’s dream couple, dubbed Brangelina in the media.
