Petri Virolainen is happy that an agreement was reached in the nurses’ labor dispute. The costs are increasing, but at the same time the salary increases support the goal of keeping the current workforce and getting new professionals.
– In Päijät-Hämee, we are able to do things that allow us to pay the staff the salary they deserve and still guarantee high-level services. We need good and professional staff. Yes, the salary also has an effect, so I don’t see this as a negative thing at all, Virolainen states.
The agreement reached affects welfare areas both through wage increases and wage harmonization. Salary harmonization roughly means that the same salary is paid for the same work at the same employer, i.e. in the future welfare area.
According to Welfare Area Director Virolainen, the personnel are behind them due to the labor shortage, the corona virus, the labor market dispute and the changes made in Päijät-Hämee.
– Now we need to calm down the situation and start thinking together with the staff about how we can make the Päijät-Häme welfare area a pleasant and attractive workplace so that we have enough hands to handle this demanding task.
The Estonian thanks the employees that, despite the difficulties and disagreements, they have tried to take good care of the customers.
