Between January and April, forest activists protested logging several times when Metsähallitus was thinning several tens of hectares in the Yli-Vuok recreational forest.
According to Metsäkapina’s and Nature’s Association’s press release, the logging was sometimes on hiatus.
Activists of the forest group have mapped the lichen, moss and dwarf species of the Yli-Vuok recreation forest in Suomussalmi and the forests in its surrounding areas during this summer and autumn. Information about the mapped species has been submitted to Metsähallitus.
