True crime fascinates, but why? Reijo Mäki, Niina Repo and Mikko Kalajoki reflect on the charm of murders – live broadcast underway from the Turku Book Fair

In addition to the murders, the writer trio remembers their favorite childhood books. The theme of the Viikonvaihti fair event, on the other hand, is Fine Art in all its forms.

Murder never gets old, and the interest in murder mysteries is also ancient.

True crime literature about real-life crimes has become particularly popular, both bound or stapled, as audio books and podcasts. And traditional detective stories don’t do badly either.

What is fascinating about violent death? Is there any difference between a made-up detective story and a real murder in terms of the reading experience? Why are many people ashamed to admit that they enjoy murder mysteries?

The author trio Mäki, Repo and Kalajoki also remember their favorite books from their own childhood or youth.

What book made an impact as a teenager, and will it feel the same as an adult? Do they have any reading experiences to recommend for today’s children and young people? Opuses that inspire you to read, or has the whole idea of \u200b\u200breading as an educational experience outlived its time?

Visual arts as the main theme of the book fair

Before the start of the author discussion, we will get to know the Turku Book Fair live broadcast.

The fine arts theme includes different types of painting, sculpture, drawing, illustration, photography, graphic arts and comic art.

About 120 exhibitors and a total of more than 600 performers will participate in the Turku Book Fair. According to the organizers, almost all authors who published a book in 2022 will be seen in the Turku exhibition center.

– We are happy that after years of quiet events, literature can now be seen and heard on a broad front, says program director Huotarinen.
