The apartment building fire in Lahti was not caused by a faulty stove – the police could not find a clear cause of ignition

The investigation into the apartment building fire in Mukkula, Lahti in July, has ended. The police do not suspect a crime in the case.

A faulty heater did not cause the July apartment building fire in Lahti’s Mukkula. The investigation of the apartment building fire on Timonkatu has been completed.

Previously, the fire was suspected to have originated from the stove. However, in the statement of the forensic laboratory of the Central Criminal Police, it is stated that no traces or faults explaining the ignition of the fire have been found in the electric stove.

The stove is unlikely to cause a fire. The sauna was built in accordance with the regulations, and there are no indications that the residents of the apartment had any part in starting the fire.

In the investigation of the cause of the fire, it was not possible to establish a clear cause of ignition. The investigation also did not reveal anything suggestive of a crime or negligence that would make the police suspect a crime.
