Päijät–Hämee caregiver association and Päijät–Sote organize training for caregivers during the rest of the year. According to the association, the screening for family care support is strict in the province.
Many caregivers need services brought home to support their coping.
According to Pynnönen, caregivers must be sufficiently aware of their rights and service options, which for example are provided by Päijät–Sote, private entities and associations.
– The criteria for granting family care support are very strict in Päijät-Hämee compared to the rest of the country.
According to Pynnönen’s estimate, there could be more than 12,000 people in Päijät-Hämee who act as caregivers for their loved ones. According to the association, about 1,400 people from Paijäthämä are covered by the support.
Training available
The Päijät-Häme caregivers association and Päijät–Sote organize free training for caregivers in the fall. Participation does not require an official care contract or association membership.
– The close relationship with one’s spouse, child or parent changes in family care, when the family caregiver bears responsibility for the smooth running of everyday life, says Executive Director Pynnönen.
